Incapsula.A Redstamp customer success story.
Imperva Incapsula is a cloud-based content delivery network that improves website performance and provides general online security.
Go to bottomAs a security platform and service provider, Incapsula faced a unique challenge in finding the right fit for their marketing department. They needed someone who could provide a wide range of services—including blog management, web redesign, and Marketo integrations—and who could do it all at a high level that would let them compete in a marketplace crowded with high-level competition. They found their ideal marketing partner in Redstamp.
Challenge
Creating a more flexible, user-friendly blog.
ChallengeFor over three years, Incapsula has entrusted Redstamp with all their website needs, including page design, app development, content marketing, and a wide variety of technical improvements such as Marketo integration.
But finding a provider that offered diverse services and maintained consistently high quality was challenging. Hiring separate freelancers meant quality was inconsistent, and having different teams working on the front and back end of each project meant more time and risked more mistakes—two things Incapsula couldn’t afford.

As Igal Zeifman, Director of Marketing at Incapsula, puts it:
“Incapsula is growing fast, and we’re up against some of the biggest companies in the world. We need consistent, flawless execution and non-generic solutions that don’t require a lot of additional integration.”
Incapsula was also keen on overhauling their blog to make things easier on their content creators and more enjoyable for their readers.
“We wanted the blog to be in the hands of the people who wrote the content,” explains Joy Ma, Marketing Manager at Incapsula. “We also needed Marketo integration, asset digitization, and a range of other projects.”
But above all else, Igal and Joy needed a provider that was as committed to protecting customer and company data as they were.
Incapsula is a security service, which meant that whoever they chose would need to respect sensitive information and adhere strictly to its stringent security rules.
“We couldn’t be just a name on a long list of customers,” Igal explains. “We didn’t need a design firm. We needed a partner.”
Thankfully, in Redstamp, Incapsula found a single provider that could solve all of their creative and technical needs.
Solution
A homepage redesigned to focus on conversion.
Solution“It was a sensitive project,” Igal explains. “Our website drives over 50% of our revenue. And, because the final design was going to be extended to our entire website, it needed to be perfect.”
The bar was already set high—but even so, Redstamp’s work exceeded Igal’s expectations.
“I talked to Spencer Ririe early on about the homepage, and he came back to me and suggested changing up our navigation menus along with a list of other improvements. They went way beyond the brief, and they were always working—even when I sent them emails at crazy hours.” Igal laughs.
Building a new blog from scratch
Redstamp worked closely with Joy to discuss the strategy behind the blog, including what was working, what wasn’t, and how they could solve those problems.
Once the strategy was in place, Redstamp was able to move quickly—a benefit of having been integrated into the client’s marketing and processes for over three years.
“It felt like we were already halfway done, even at the start of the project,” Joy explains. “We didn’t have to explain our brand or visuals—they knew it already. We were working with someone we trusted. I can’t tell you how important that is.”
This deep level of understanding has made Redstamp more like a top-performing internal team than an outsourced company.
“Everyone at Redstamp is very responsive, dedicated, and easy to work with,” says Joy.

Creating high-performing content assets
Beyond the blog, Redstamp’s flexible work model meant that Incapsula could hire them to perform a wide variety of services, all with the goal of improving user trust and experience.
“We got to see a wide range of Redstamp’s abilities that went beyond redoing our WordPress blog,” Joy says. “Their retainer service meant we could contract them to design custom tools for our customers at the same time.”
“It felt like we were already halfway done, even at the start of the project,” Joy explains. “We didn’t have to explain our brand or visuals—they knew it already. We were working with someone we trusted. I can’t tell you how important that is.”
Redstamp designed two custom tools: a DDoS Calculator, which allowed prospects to see if they were secure against cyber attacks, and a DDoS Resiliency Score, which allowed people to gauge the strength of their security.
Readers responded well to the new tools—the DDoS calculator was one of their highest performing assets in 2016.
An ongoing service that satisfies all of their needs
After working with Redstamp on a variety of projects over the past three years, Igal knows that Redstamp will deliver, no matter the task at hand.
“Everything I’ve seen from Redstamp—their feedback, their visuals, their metrics—has always been top quality,” Igal says.
And both Igal and Joy agree that the best thing to come out their partnership is the close working relationship and high level of trust they’ve built with Redstamp.
“My first encounter with Redstamp built trust between us,” Igal recalls.
“And their retainer service has made me happy to involve them in our other big projects ever since.”
“Whatever changes we need, they make. When we need them to scale, they do,” Joy adds. “I’ve never had them turn down one of my requests and say, ‘No, I can’t do that.’”

Since the re-launch, they’ve doubled subscription rates, had a 175% increase in pages per session, and a 7% increase in sessions on their blog.
They’ve also enjoyed a 20% increase in website homepage engagement.
“We knew our homepage was outdated and we were expecting to see some positive results, but 20%? That’s a lot more than we expected,” Igal adds.
Now that Incapsula has seen such strong results, Igal can’t wait to make full use of Redstamp’s unlimited project bandwidth.
“We need SO much more from Redstamp.” Igal laughs. “We have at least four or five new projects under discussion right now, including more digital tools and videos.”
“We think of Redstamp as part of our creative team,” Joy agrees. “They fill any gaps we have, and we trust their design decisions because they know our brand so well.”
“It’s rare to find a company as versatile as Redstamp” Igal concludes. “Finding a single provider that tackles different technical, aesthetic, and design tasks without losing quality is invaluable; that’s the kind of solution every marketing professional wants to have.”
